Overnight Coffeecake


  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Coffee Cake Topping:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg


Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together. Cream the butter with the granulated sugar and the brown sugar. Add eggs and beat well.

    Using an electric mixer, add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk into the butter mixture.

      Spray a 9” x 13” glass or metal baking pan with cooking spray.

        Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle on top of batter. Cover with foil and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

          Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. To test, insert a toothpick in it and when it comes out clean you know it is done.
